The KUMC Women in Medicine & Science (WIMS) organization annually presents WIMS Awards to recognize distinguished faculty, trainees, and staff in our University of Kansas Medical Center community who have exhibited remarkable support for the advancement of faculty members' careers in medicine, nursing and health professions.
To self-nominate or to nominate a well deserving colleague for the Rising Star, Soaring Star, or the Patricia A. Thomas Rise Up award please complete the nomination below and upload the required documents:
1. Nomination letter focusing on the applicant's clinical, educational, research and administrative responsibilities and goals (as they are applicable). Please limit the letter to one page or less. Nomination letter may be written by nominee or nominator.
2. Nominee's current curriculum vitae (SOM applicants: FACT SOM CV format required)
3. One letter of support. May be from the department chair or division director, mentor, etc. Should include evidence of leadership and competence at our institution based on the above criteria. The most effective letters will address each criterion specifically.
To self-nominate or to nominate a well deserving trainee for the Spark award or staff member for the Excellence in Action award please complete the nomination below and upload the required documents:
1. Nomination letter - focusing on applicant's meeting criteria of award. Nominations may be written by self, faculty or peer (either the nomination letter or letter of support must be from faculty). Please limit the letter to one page or less.
2. Nominee's current curriculum vitae
3. One letter of support. May be from faculty or peer (either nomination letter or letter of support must be from faculty). The most effective letters will address each criterion specifically.
Incomplete nominations will not be considered by the WIMS Executive Council.
Nominations will be accepted until 5:00pm on Friday, May 29, 2026
